Booneville is the only city (incorporated) in Owsley County KY. And the total population of Booneville is 111…yep, that’s correct, not a typo, or missing a digit! The Emma Quire Mission, under the direction of Susie Lacefield, is housed in an eight-room former motel, vintage 1950. Each room has been sponsored and decorated by a church group and they are quite interesting. A kitchen and large storage room complete the property, and the mission distributes volumes of food from there. All donations of clothing are distributed from another building…the former jail, and are kept in the cells, up a steep flight of stairs.
We will once again be working with the Emma Quire mission center to meet the needs of those in the poorest county in Kentucky.
