Wedding Ministry

The purpose of the Walnut Street Baptist Church Wedding Ministry is to prepare engaged couples for a lifelong, God-glorifying marriage and to assist in the preparation of the wedding ceremony. We believe that any wedding celebrated here should be a worship service in which the gathered community gives thanks to God for the love which brings two people together, witness their vows, and asks God’s blessings on their life together. In this way, the wedding becomes an act of the whole church. Therefore, the policies set forth by the church, reflect the convictions of Walnut Street Baptist Church about the nature of worship and marriage.
The indissoluble union between Jesus Christ and the church is the biblical model we follow in marriage. When a man and a woman with an authentic love for each other commit themselves in Christian marriage, they come together intending to remain united throughout their lives. It is our hope that persons who come to be married in Walnut Street Baptist Church’s facilities share our convictions and will strive to realize the ideal of a lifelong marriage.
As you read through the policies, we ask that you respect our policies and take them seriously. They have been established in order to preserve an atmosphere of worship and individuality in all marriage ceremonies. If you have any questions regarding the policies, please discuss them with the senior pastor or other staff members.

lifecare

   LifeCare Counseling Center is a ministry of Walnut Street Baptist Church that

   provides specialized care for persons of all ages, focusing on individual, marital,

   and family counseling, as well as supervision of Christian counseling and

   marriage and family therapy. The purpose of LifeCare is to be a Christ-centered

   wellness and healing resource for persons who may be experiencing personal

   distress, marital conflict, family disorder, spiritual confusion, and/or emotional

   deprivation. All LifeCare counselors hold or are pursuing advanced degrees,

   certifications, and licenses in the counseling field. Each is either a member of

   Walnut Street Baptist Church or another local church and offers ministry in the

   context of the moral and ethical concerns of Christian faith. For more

Couples will complete the marriage preparation classes by participating in two of the scheduled workshops and attending each of the six sessions.
