Music and Worship
Welcome to the Ministry of Music and Worship. We are blessed with a number of people gifted in music; however most of us are of average abilities with a willingness to serve our Lord through the song that wells up in our hearts. When we combine our individual talents with those of others, the praise is multiplied many fold, and we are able to glorify our Lord in a way none of us can accomplish alone. So, regardless of your age or musical background, there is always a place for you in our ministry.

    House of Prayer

     Wednesdays in the Sanctuary @ 6:00 p.m.

What’s new about making a sanctuary dedicated to God a House of Prayer? Actually nothing, especially when we read Is. 56:7, Matt. 21:13, Mark 11:17, and Luke 19:46. In our case, what’s new about it is that we want to return to our sanctuary and make it our mid-week House of Prayer. Not the chapel, but the sanctuary. Now that we have concluded our church-wide experience with “In God’s Presence,” we want to see various segments of Walnut Street united in prayer every Wednesday evening. What good will it do, if we simply learn about prayer but do not intensify our prayer life? Prayer is a holy privilege. This new, Wednesday-prayer-gathering approach will encourage all of us to enjoy such privilege. So, let us come together as a family and experience intimacy with our Lord, through confession, praise, worship, thanksgiving, petition, and intercession.

You don’t want to miss it!

The Hospitality Team is a group of people who enjoy serving Walnut Street attenders by assisting them in the parking lot, greeting them as they enter the building, ushering them to their seats, and providing information. Every Sunday, our volunteers serve in one of three areas: Parking Team, Worship Service Team (Ushering and Greeting), or Information Center Hosts.

If you are interested in serving on our hospitality team, contact June Johnson or call (502) 367-2830.

The media ministry at Walnut Street is a large and active ministry. Each and every Sunday, our 10:50 worship service is aired live on WAVE-3 at 11:00 am and the service is rebroadcast on Faith 19 several times the following week. Approximately 35 volunteers give of their time and energy and are involved with sound, cameras, lighting, graphics, and other television and in-house production needs. The media ministry also is involved with helping to plan worship services and special events such as annual Christmas Program.

Walnut Street has aired live for 40 years. To learn more or to support this ministry, click here.

If you are interested in serving in this ministry contact Matt Thurman or call (502) 589-5290.

The Christian Social Ministries exists to link congregational resources with people in the church and community who have financial, physical, educational, spiritual, and emotional needs. On a daily basis we collect and distribute basic items such as clothing, food, household items, and personal hygiene items. We also provide financial assistance for rent, utilities, and prescription medication to families and individuals with little or no financial resources. In addition to these daily activities, a number of special programs throughout the year seek to address both the causes and effects of poverty in our community. If you are interested in serving with us in this ministry, contact Angela Carpenter or call (502) 589-3454.
